Rescue Dogs
Rescue Dog Behaviour & Training Programme
Specialist support for overseas and UK rescue dogs navigating big feelings, difficult backgrounds and behaviour challenges.
If you’re living with a rescue dog who struggles to settle, listen or feel safe, you already know how overwhelming it can be. Many caregivers seek help multiple times before realising the same thing: traditional, generic training approaches often don’t work for dogs with complicated histories.
These dogs need more than a textbook approach. They need someone who understands what shaped them, what drives their behaviour, and how to help them build confidence in a world that often feels unpredictable.
This is exactly why I developed my rescue-specific behaviour programmes – focused, structured and designed for dogs whose past experiences and genetics still influence their present challenges.
When I adopted my Romanian rescue dog, I was thrown in at the deep end. Well-meaning advice was everywhere, but none of it helped me understand her. It became clear that meaningful progress only comes when you dig below the surface and work with the dog in front of you, not the dog you imagined you’d adopted.
That realisation led me to qualify with the Animal Behaviour and Training Council and dedicate my work to rescue dogs who need a different type of support. Over the past four years, I’ve helped hundreds of dogs, including many who had challenging starts in life, learn to decompress, trust, and thrive in their new lives.

Testimonials
“We honestly couldn’t have asked for a better trainer for Ozzie when he was a puppy. Emma is absolutely amazing, so friendly, patient, and has such a calming presence. She always made both us and Ozzie feel completely at ease. Ozzie adored Emma and it was so clear how much she genuinely cares about the dogs she works with. We’re so grateful for everything she taught us. I would highly recommend! Thank you Emma!”

“Before finding help, my Romanian rescue dog barked at every sound, doorbell and visitor and was constantly on edge in the home. After working with Emma, I have a calmer dog during deliveries and, with management, can invite guests into our house without my dog getting overly stressed. I can highly recommend Emma, she has transformed my anxious Romanian rescue dog.”

“Emma spent several months helping us with our Westie puppy, Tilly, who struggled with severe reactivity and anxiety. Emma has been absolutely amazing in helping us with training, behavioural guidance and advice, plus supporting us alongside our Clinical Animal Behaviourist. She is a highly skilled dog trainer who seems able to get Tilly to do things we thought would be impossible, while being equally patient with us as she shared the skills and techniques we needed to get Tilly’s challenging behaviours under control. We were very sad to hear that she is moving out of our area and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for support and training for dogs struggling with their behaviour.”

“We started working with Emma when we were having some behavioural issues with our then 18-month-old dog. Two years later, we’ve done everything from intermediate obedience, to scentwork, and more advanced trick training, and Emma has been superb throughout! She is a highly compassionate and professional trainer who takes the time to understand the best way to approach training rather than looking for one size fits all. Her methodologies keep things fun while building up good foundations for more advanced skills later (we never would have known getting a dog to walk backwards was so useful!). We would highly recommend Emma to anyone looking to not only improve their dogs behaviour, but change their relationship with their dog for the better.”
